Super Jeep Tour pt. 3: Geysir
We blew past Geysir on our way up to the glacier in the morning to ensure the best weather and light would be spent on the glacier. On the way back we got to stop and spend a little time there. Geyers at the site have been errupting off and on as far back as the 1200s. If fact the name of the phenomenon "Geyser" derives it's name from this particular geyser. While Geysir doesn't errupt very often, a smaller geyser, Strokkur, does. Approximately every 5 - 8 minutes Strokkur errupts to a height of roughly 30 to 40 feet.
