Sightseeing in Reykjavik

We took a 2.5 hour bus tour around Reykjavik this morning, riding through the different areas of town (Reykjavik has around 200,000 residents) admiring the different forms and ages of the architecture.

This is uh... some important church. I was asleep during this part of the tour.

This is the president's house.

Fishing makes up about 60% of Iceland's economy.

These are fresh water storage tanks for Reykjavik. There are 6 towers each capable of holding 1 million gallons of water. The building is referred to as the Pearl because of the glass dome on top. The structure itself has 5 levels with the top being a very exclusive restaurant that, like the Space Needle, rotates 360 degrees every two hours.

Views of Reykjavik from the top of the Pearl.

These last two pictures are of a Lutheran church. I had seen pictures of it before, and was very excited to get a chance to take pictures of it myself. As we rolled up in our van, the guide informed us we couldn't go inside as it is currently under renovation. Not a big deal, until I saw the guys in the orange suits working outside the front, and totally ruined it for me.
